WORKSHOP: Mathematical Methods for Energy-Efficient Train Control

This workshop, held on March 16–17, 2026, at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), brings together leading expertise in mathematical methods for energy-efficient train control. The event welcomes two invited speakers: Professor Hans Georg Bock and Dr. Andreas Sommer, from the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR), Heidelberg University, Germany.

Professor Bock, a world-renowned expert in optimal control and large-scale scientific computing, is invited together with his collaborator, Dr. Sommer, a specialist in numerical optimization and energy-efficient control systems. Their joint work, particularly in energy-efficient train control and transportation systems, forms the core of this workshop. Together, they represent a highly regarded research team from IWR Heidelberg, known for integrating advanced mathematical theory with real-world applications in energy and transport.
